Supplies
Puppies are kind of like babies - they require a lot of stuff!

We're here to help you get started.

First, if you purchase one of our puppies, there are three things we will require you to have, prior to taking your puppy home:

1. TLC Pet Food
This is what we feed the puppies here and it's important they stay on this food for at least the first eight weeks they are in your home. This helps them get through the difficult transition from our house to yours. During this time of change, it's imperative to keep your puppy's diet consistent.

2. NuVet Plus
The stress of change can weaken your puppy's immune system, making them more susceptible to getting sick. This vitamin supplement will give your puppy the healthy boost it needs! We suggest buying the granules because it can easily be sprinkled on food. We give it to the puppies while they are here, so they are used to it and love the taste.

3. Doc Roy's GI Synbiotics
This stressful period can also lead to tummy upset for your puppy. This, in turn, can lead to

other problems. GI Synbiotics is a prebiotic and probiotic that helps keep your pup's GI system on track. This helps maintain the good health of your puppy. We also sprinkle these granules on our puppies' food while they are here, and they are big fans of it!

Information on how to order these items can be found below. We also list some other things we highly recommend for puppies. Hopefully they'll make things easier for you!

Please note: We believe in these products so much that we've joined affiliate programs, including Amazon, when available.

Crate Training

Crate training is so important, especially during potty training.
Your puppy will grow quickly so consider getting at least the 42-inch. The divider allows you to make it smaller to help with potty training.
You'll also want at least two soft mats for the inside. That way there is always one available in case of a potty accident.

Play Pen
This is so helpful when potty training. It attaches to the crate and gives your puppy a safe place to play when you are busy.
Set it up on a hard-surface floor and lay down a potty pad. Put in some toys and chew sticks to keep him/her busy.
By leaving the crate door open like this, your puppy can go in when tired or scared. You want your puppy to feel like the crate is his/her safe place.
You can also use the play pen outside if you’re in an unfenced area.

You'll want to get the tallest play pen because your puppy will grow!

Walking & Running
Having a harness is good for training a puppy because they won't choke while learning to walk on a leash.

A harness also makes it easy to attach your puppy to a doggy seatbelt in the car.

Toys
Puppies need LOTS of toys. They especially love to chew.
You can start with something soft for a puppy – but they will quickly become aggressive chewers. Just watch to make sure they aren’t biting off pieces of a toy and eating it.

Treats
Bully Sticks and Collagen Braids are GREAT for keeping a puppy busy - and they LOVE them! They'll actually wear themselves out chewing on these. You'll want to keep them on hand.
You’ll also want training treats to reward them for good behavior (like going outside to potty!). Keep some in your pocket so you can instantly reward your good little puppy!

Brain Games
Doodles are smart and their minds need to be kept busy.
Snuffle mats and puzzles will do the trick!

Bells
Bells are a great way to help potty train your puppy.
Hang them on the door and each time you take him/her out, ring the bells. Eventually, your puppy will learn to ring the bells on its own when he/she needs to go outside.

Brush & Comb

Doodles need to be brushed regularly.
You’ll want a comb and a brush. Use the brush first, then go through with a comb to get the under coat of hair.
You might want Matt-X on hand in case you get some matts.
Brushing the puppy regularly from the start will get them used to it and make grooming easier as they get older.

Grooming
Most Doodles need to be professionally groomed every 6-8 weeks. But it's amazing how quickly they can find dirt and mud! There will be times when they need bathed at home.
Make the process easier for you and your dog by investing in some additional tools.
By using a grooming table, your dog will learn that the table is a place for business, not a place to play.
To keep their hair from tangling, it's always best to blow dry their hair after a bath. A human blow dryer will get the job done, slowly but surely. But a dryer meant for dogs moves a LOT more air and makes quick work of the job.

Ear Care

Doodles have floppy ears, so their ear canals don't always dry out well after a bath or playing in the water. This can lead to bacteria growth, infections, and smelly ears.

With every bath, we do an ear rinse, just to help things dry out and prevent any problems.

If your dog is scratching their ears a lot, or you notice an odor, drops like Zymox with hydrocortisone seem to really help!
